About HVGB
Hudson Valley Gives Back was founded on two backgrounds converging together: the passion for building and construction as well as the love of helping people through the Nursing field. Brought together under one site, our intent is to provide contractor services while helping others -- donor contributions help reduce the cost of these services for residents of the Hudson Valley.
Over thirty years ago, an elderly lady in the Bronx unknowingly birthed the idea for Hudson Valley Gives Back. She had difficulty carrying heavy bags from the grocery store or making minor home repairs. She tried to pay for services that were done by a local teenager, but that teenager would never accept payment. It wasn't about the money, instead, it was about the satisfaction received from helping someone.
Fast forward and that young man became a contractor and a nursing technician. While they may not seem to be professions that have anything in common, they both help people improve their lives.
Today, helping people is still the main goal. In order to do so, we've built a site where tradesmen and people in need of home repair or handyman work can come together for reasonably-priced home improvement work. In addition, we accept donations for work that families may not be able to afford on their own.
